Dal 3 novembre saranno disponibili due nuovi e ricchissimi cofanetti, in versione 8CD e 12LP, con le performance dal vivo dei DIRE STRAITS, la band che ha attraversato il mondo negli anni Ottanta e Novanta con un impareggiabile rock sofisticato accompagnato da testi emozionanti.

Emersi nel circuito dei club e dei pub nel 1977, i Dire Straits erano guidati dal carismatico cantautore, produttore discografico e compositore Geordie Mark Knopfler, uno dei musicisti di maggior successo che il Regno Unito abbia mai prodotto, spesso citato come uno dei più grandi chitarristi di tutti i tempi.

Il suono dei Dire Straits ha definito musicalmente la fine degli anni ’70 e l’inizio degli anni ’80 con grandi successi come ” Sultans Of Swing“, “Romeo And Juliet“, “Money For Nothing” e “Walk Of Life“. L’album dei Dire Straits del 1985, Brothers In Arms, numero uno nelle classifiche mondiali e vincitore di due Grammy Award, è uno degli album più venduti al mondo. Dopo la pubblicazione del loro ultimo album “On Every Street” nel ’91 e il tour nel ’92, Knopfler lasciò i Dire Straits e nel 1995 e iniziò un nuovo percorso come artista solista.

Dire Straits Live 1978-1992 presenta versioni rimasterizzate dei classici album dal vivo dei Dire Straits: Alchemy (’84), On The Night (’93), Encores EP del ’93, Live At The BBC del ’95 e l’ineditoLive From The Rainbow Theatre del ’79 che cattura l’emozionante rock della band suonato con virtuosismo mozzafiato dalle loro prime registrazioni alla BBC nel ’78 fino ai concerti di On The Night.

La versione ampliata del doppio album originale Alchemy includerà i brani inediti ‘Industrial Disease‘ e ‘Twisting By The Pool‘ – oltre a ‘Love Over Gold’, e le versioni estese di ‘Telegraph Road‘, ‘Solid Rock‘, ‘Going Home‘ e ‘Portobello Belle‘.

Una versione ampliata dell’originale On The Night includerà brani eseguiti durante il tour e mai pubblicati, tratti dalle registrazioni multitraccia dei concerti a Nimes, Rotterdam e Parigi: ‘Tunnel Of Love, ‘TelegraphRoad‘, ‘SultansOfSwing‘, ‘TwoYoungLovers’, ‘WhenitComesToYou’, and ‘IThink I LoveYouTooMuch’.

Parlando con il giornalista e conduttore televisivo Paul Sexton, autore delle note di copertina dei cofanetti Live 1978-1992, Knopfler afferma: «La gente chiederà sempre di suonare le tue hit, fa parte di ciò che fai quando suoni dal vivo. Devi compiacere te stesso ma allo stesso tempo è una celebrazione. Ci si diverte insieme. Mi è piaciuto scrivere le canzoni, mi è piaciuto registrarle, quindi mi divertirò a suonarle. Non suono niente che non voglia, quindi se durante il concerto eseguo brani come “Romeo And Juliet” o “Brothers In Arms”, è perché voglio farlo. Per me è importante aver creato brani indimenticabili nella vita delle persone ».
