Nel 1996 il The Ghost Of Tom Joad tour, partito il 28 ottobre 1995 e terminato il 26 maggio 1997, fa tre tappe ad Asbury Park NJ, tra date in “casa” che si sono tenute il 24/25/26 novembre.
La tre giorni ad Asbury Park si conclude con un set di 24 canzoni in una serata di chiusura condita da ospiti speciali.
La scaletta scelta per la terza serata esplora gli esordi esuberanti della giovinezza (“For You”, “It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City”, “Spirit In The Night”) e fa i conti con l'età adulta (“Tougher Than The Rest”, “All That Heaven Will Allow”, “When You're Alone”), insieme ai racconti di coloro che vivono ai margini (“Straight Time”, “Sinaloa Cowboys”, “Across The Border”).
A quella serata, parte di un tour senza la E Street Band, si uniscono Patti Scialfa, Soozie Tyrell, Danny Federici, Stevie Van Zandt, Vini Lopez, Richard Blackwell e il compianto Big Danny Gallagher, che si uniscono tutti insieme nella prima del tour di “I Don't Want To Go Home.”
