La sessione estiva in America é iniziato con il battesimo della nuovissima Brendan Byrne Arena a East Rutherford, nel “suo” New Jersey.
Registrato il 9 luglio, “Brendan Byrne 1981” è lo spettacolo finale delle sei notti (ogni sera una scaletta diversa) in cui il musicista si è esibito in quella nuova location. Le prime date del ritorno in America rappresentano per Bruce e la band un momento molto alto del trionfale “The River Tour”, complice anche il fatto che “stia giocando in casa”.
La scaletta mescola nuove canzoni avvincenti e momenti molto divertenti: “Follow That Dream”, “Trapped”, “Johnny Bye Bye”, “The Ties That Bind”, “Sherry Darling” “Jersey Girl”, “Detroit Medley” con “Shake” e “Sock It To Me, Baby”. C’è inoltre un’apparizione come ospite di Gary US Bonds per “This Little Girl” e “Jolé Blon”.
